Book reviews
A discussion board can be developed as a rich resource by asking students, or setting them as a task, to evaluate or review a resource, book, case or website and post their reviews centrally. This not only provides an annotation on the bibilographies, but the reviews can themselves create interesting discussion. Some of the keener students will also find electronic resources not necessarily referenced by the lecturer or other materials from their wider reading that they are prepared to share with their peers. Clearly, the act of writing allows students to practice critiquing and summarising as skills.
